| CIVILIANS Camping for Authentic Civilian Impressions will be limited to 85 people at Patriots Point and Mr. Fred Tetor has gotten permission to use a field across from Liberty Square in downtown Charleston. We can accept up to 50 civilians and 50 militia. Jean Hutchinson and Mary Hatcher are the Civilian contacts for Patriots Point and also for other areas. The firing on Fort Sumter was a spectacle and civilians lined the battery, roof tops, and anyplace that had a view. Civilians staying at Patriots Point will need to register using the above site. | VERY IMPORTANT It is imperative that every reenactor going to Fort Sumter on the park/fort boat know that boots, brogans, or any period footwear with leather soles, cannot be wore on the boat. They must wear shoes like tennis, running/walking, deck, etc. they have a good rubber, or similar, sole. If t hey do not have these shoes they do not go to Fort Sumter. |
